See...  that was a lot more coherent than the previous few posts, and I would agree that the legislation is pretty ridiculous.

Again, I'm not disagreeing with you on that, but it's hard to legislate something like this, because she didn't break any laws.  It's not illegal to lie to someone or offend them, nor should it be.

My initial reaction was, "This is bullshit, there goes freedom of speech!".

But after reading the last part of the news article, it seems to be a complicated matter, seeing that they were people that actually knew her and her psychological status and had the intention of inflicting pain.

I would have to see the specifics of the law before placing judgment. I think there is more to it than simply, "You can't type bad things to people online". It most likely applies only to individuals that actually know the victims offline. But still, this law is unsettling and places us precariously over slippery slope of restrictions and a loss of freedoms for all.

I don't know if there should be laws dictating what can be typed or said online.  A person, specifically an adult, should not be knowingly and maliciously coercing or manipulating another person, specifically a minor.   It doesn't matter if it was online, by phone or fax, or mail, or a god damned telegraph.
