[Portal] Where do i put downloaded maps?

Ok i jus downloaded this map pack from fileplanet:

but i dnt know where to put it/ save it to, and its an .RAR file.

I tried going c/program files(x86)/steam/steammaps/(my acount name)/portal/portal/maps

but then wen i tried opening portal it cudnt find it. FYI i have vista.

I was gonna then download this:

as i noticed it was a .zip file instead of a .RAR and thought id have better luck.

So can anyone help me? Karma for help which results in the maps working

Extract the .bsps into /portal/maps.
When you load up the game, if you can't find your map, type into the console "map (mapname)" and it should load.

Well, I downloaded that map pack, and did the .RAR come with a maps, materials, models and sound folders? I'm not sure if just copying the .bsp's would work in this case because the map pack comes with extra sounds and whatnot.

Anyway, mine did. If yes, paste the whole lot in:

c/program files(x86)/steam/steammaps/(my acount name)/portal/portal

And say yes to overwrite stuff. Then it should appear in your bonus maps section.

On a side note I completed it yesterday . It's quite challenging in places.

Yep - like FS said, try "map mapname" in the console!
