The difference is that defending is done with your back towards a place of spawn, keeping people away from your flag/silo.
camping is overseeing the places people are about to spawn at, and killing them as they come into play.
But if i have a bad commander, and no support teammembers, and i'm out of ammo on all my weapons, should EA make me invunerable to gunfire until i get some more ammo or should there be a rule that people way not shoot me when i have a knife in my hand?
Because it would be unfair for me to do combat if i have the disadvantage of bad teamwork doesn't it?
O, and another rule, no claymores or waiting in the upper entrance of the Titan, because i can't see if the area is safe before i jump into the hole. O, and when the core is breached let's not open the rear entrance, so the defending team can rush in and swamp the coreroom and massacre everyone who tries to get in.
There was even someone who camplained about everyone spawning at the flag closesd to the uncap-base.
Where is it going to stop!!
lets overregulate the whole game, infact lets take out every element, give everyone a pistol with unlimited ammo and lets just shoot at eachother on an open field.
Come on!
JdeFalconr wrote What you WANT to do doesn't matter! You cannot, in fact, play however you want to, especially when violating EA's or a server's rules.
So what the otherone wants does count?! well just think of me as the ohterone then.
k30dxedle wrote a lot of things about the 'pro play-as-you-want' people. There will be people that use MSN language like '|337' or 'get off da srvr n00b', there will always be that kind of reactions. But don't let it blind you in the discussion. The 'play-by-the-rules' party just want rules and regulations for everything annoying that could happen to them. Soon enough you will be scoring points if you obey the rules instead of killing an enemy player.
On that thought, let's make medals and pins for that. A pin for playing five games without camping.
Or a medal for spawning at the furthest spawnpoint and running all the #%&& way to the uncap-base without being shot by the recon sniper that crawls along the edge of the playingfield towards the the furthest flag to capture it (or would that be deemed illigal to? because then the enemy could spawn at to points and you have them in the front AND in the back, and that would be unfair).
Or let's stop whining, and play. Because if everybody starts to camp, there will be no fighting, and there will be no fun for EVERYONE, so it stops itself.
Hust look at the Titan. When the shields drop and everybody rushes towards the Titan to defend it, they eventually go back, if there's noone that attacks them.
Lets look at the definition of the word "game."
A competitive activity or sport in which players contend with each other according to a set of rules: the game of basketball; the game of gin rummy.
My question to you is; if you're camping some spawn like an asshat where's the competition?
A game means there's some sort of opposition. It's kinda hard to oppose someone when as soon as you gain control of your character (spawn) you die again.
And no, it's not what one person wants over everyone else. Like most rules and laws, it's what the
majority wants. The majority of people want to actually be able to
PLAY the game. It's kinda hard to play when I lose control of my character 0.00001 seconds after I gain control of it because some fucktard isn't good enough to play in a way that would challenge them.
Now before you say "why don't you spawn at some other spawn point noob!"
When I join a game I'll spawn at an uncap so I can figure out where the fighting is and where I'm needed and then head there.
Also if I know there are tanks, walkers, or other dangers at the other spawns I'm not going to spawn there. I'll just die 0.000001 seconds later anyways, and they have the right to be there. They are capping a spawn point.
It's kinda hard to cap an uncap, so what are you doing there? Blowing the commander assets? Kinda hard to do that with a support kit and a sentry gun. You're probably there for the easy kills because you can't do anything else. In which case it's not even a game to you. As a said a game means there's a challenge. If you think shooting fish in a barrel is challenging, then maybe you should be playing something a little less complicated. May I suggest "Duck Hunt" on NES.
I'm pretty sure that even in professional tournaments there's a rule against spawn camping. You're probably not allowed to do it, unless you've capped all the other flags.
